I went to eat at Honey Pig in Annandale, VA. Honey Pig has been a huge hit from the start. Thanks to rock bottom prices and 24/7 operation, this is a popular place for my family and my peeps.
I went there on 8/25/09 1PM. Since it was lunch time, it wasn't as crowded.
I went with my family. We ordered thinly sliced bacon, kalbi (for kids) and spicy bacon & octopus. As with most Korean restaurants do, the waitress brought out banchan (side dishes). This is one thing I like about Korean way of eating.
Here's the thinly sliced bacon ($12.99). I prefer this over the thick ones.
You grill it with some veggies: bean sprouts, onions & kimchi. Kimchi and pork are the perfect combo.
We cooked Kalbi ($22.99) alongside the bacon. Typically we get bul-go-gi which is cheaper but they ran out. The waitress coerced me into getting this. Next time, I'm getting LA galbi which is $14.99.
Ready to eat! Here's a sample lettuce wrap. I added bacon, kalbi and veggies. Yum!
Here's steamed Korean egg. The waitressed gave this to us as "service". "Service" is basically givin the food on the house.
I also ordered Bean Paste Soup. It was only $3.99! This may be an acquired for some but you get used it like miso soup. It's very healty too.
Next we cooked the spicy bacon & octopus ($12.99). We like to end the meal this way.
The dish is cooked and ready to eat.
After you eat some of the food, you're supposed to add rice and mix it. The waitress however forgot so I was a bit disappointed. Next time, I'll remind the waitress.
I love Honey Pig. You can't beat the price and the atmosphere. I feel like I'm in Korea.
